Financial Support
Opera Nova Scotia operates on a shoestring. Yet we generate a variety of activities during the season,
which include Provincial tours and in-school educational packages, family Holidays shows,
“pay-as-you-can” informal lecture-recitals, and live introductory talks to the Metropolitan Opera
High Definition Broadcasts at The Keshen Goodman Public Library.
In this way we provide an operatic presence to all ages and incomes, in addition to our full productions.
Opera is one of the most expensive to produce of all the performing arts,
and worth every penny.
Former Artistic Director Edward Rhodes put it this way:
"The great thing about opera, is that it's big. It's big emotions,
big passion, big scenery, big music.
Opera is theatre. It's an all-encompassing art form."

Our young Nova Scotian singers deserve an adequate monetary recognition for their developing careers;
there is the scenography, the costumes, the creative lighting and technical support,
the possibility of the dance element, and the absolute necessity of a professional
orchestra to validate and complete the total experience.
We need your help. We offer a variety of opportunities
for our partners, be they individual or corporate.
Below you will
find suggestions for individuals looking to donate. We are flexible
and happy to work with you to arrive at a mutually agreeable
relationship.
Giving Opportunities:
- Individual Contributions. Through your individual contributions to ONS,
large or small, you join with the over 300 people who provided our Season’s continuity.
- Designated Sponsorships. This is a unique and fun opportunity as we match donors
to solo roles and principal performance elements of the Spring Production.
- Attendance at Fundraising Events.
- Gifts in Kind and Contributions to On-Site Fundraising Activities.
We welcome your items for the fabulous Opera Valentines Silent Auction, and for Raffle and other Prizes offered during the Season.
- Transfer of Stocks. Benefit Opera Nova Scotia by making our Association
the recipient of your Transfer of Stocks. Our financial services collaborate with
experienced brokers to facilitate your generosity. And please consider us when arranging your estate planning.
